Tile
It can be beautiful. It can be functional. It can get dirty! Bathrooms, kitchen floors, front entries - they're all subject to use and abuse, and regular cleaning products are typically ineffective, if not damaging. I use specialized chemicals and techniques to safely and meticulously clean most types of tile, including porcelain, ceramic, glass, mosaics, quarry and handmade tile, as well as natural stone (granite, marble, etc.). All of this work is done by hand - no steam cleaners, empowered water or bulky machinery. |
Grout
It's frustrating. When fresh and properly installed, grout pops and pulls a tile project together. But when it's dirty, dingy, cracked or completely missing, grout can become a nuisance. An eyesore. Left unchecked, it can even become a problem, as mold and mildew can build up in high-moisture areas, and cracks can lead to water intrusion. While most grout can be dramatically improved with cleaning, there are instances when it must be removed and re-grouted. Beyond cleaning, I can replace missing, contaminated or cracked grout, and can typically color match your original grout, regardless of age or condition. |
Caulk
Often ignored, caulking will indefinitely need periodic maintenance. Attention to detail is critical and proper prep is key. I routinely re-caulk showers, shower glass frames, tub surrounds, sinks, backsplashes, vanity tops and floor expansion joints, and can color and texture match new caulk to your existing grout or the aesthetic requirements of the project. Whether it's contaminated with mold, failed due to structural movement or you have layers upon layers of fat-fingered "handy-man specials," I can re-caulk your project the right way. |
Sealing Often misunderstood and frequently overlooked, sealing your tile and/or grout can greatly impact the life of most tiled areas. Certain types of stone, tile and grout need to be sealed, and sealing is a great way to help keep your tile and grout looking fresh for years to come. I provide a variety of sealing services, including the use of impregnating or enhancing sealers, epoxy grout stains and a variety of topical coatings. |
Original & Vintage Tile Repair & Restoration:
This is what truly got me in the business! I love this area of my work, and many of my clients share the same passion. I have experience restoring a variety of antique tiles, such as turn-of-the-century mosaics, handmade Batchelder tile and Vitrolite glass tiles, and enjoy working with the pastel and earth-tone colors found in many mid-century installations. Beyond cleaning, re-grouting or re-caulking these areas, I can usually extract and replace damaged tiles, repair cracks and fill unsightly holes. Additionally, I have numerous sources for matching or re-creating tile, so an original installation isn't necessarily ruined if tiles are missing. Beyond being sensitive to the originality of your property, restoring original tile can be a very cost-effective alternative to a complete gut and renovation.
